Colorado State University Extension
Since 1914, CSU Extension programs have provided research-based
information and education to Colorado citizens. In Douglas County, CSU
Extension continues to provide services related to horticulture, agriculture,
natural resources and 4-H youth development.  Two of the most well known
programs in Douglas County are the Master Gardener Program and the 4-H
Program.  Both programs are also involved in the Douglas County Fair and
Rodeo every year, coordinating open classes and numerous 4-H events.

What else is CSU Extension in Douglas County? VOLUNTEERS!

We are successful because of the large number of volunteers that provide expertise, guidance, support, and time to Douglas County 4-H youth, help with the county fair and make the Master Gardener program successful.

Douglas County Extension is seeking volunteers to help in the following areas
• 4-H Cloverbud events throughout the year, working with kids ages five through seven
• Outreach and after-school educational programs such as embryology and multi-cultural activities
• Leaders to start and oversee new 4-H clubs throughout Douglas County with special emphasis in the Highlands Ranch area
• Leaders who can share expertise within clubs and help lead projects
• Clerical work in the office
• Assistance with coordinating open classes during the annual county fair

The Douglas County Extension Office is located at 410 Fairgrounds Road in Castle Rock.  If interested in volunteering, please contact the office at 720-33-6930, or contact mwoodric@douglas.co.us.

Advocates for Children
303-328-2357   www.adv4children.org

Volunteers are needed to become court appointed children’s advocates.

CASA volunteers are community members who ease the overburdened
child welfare system by volunteering to advocate for individual children affected by abuse and neglect. CASAs get to know these children and speak up for them in court, providing timely, pertinent information to insure that the child's best interests are served.

CASAs must be 21 years of age or older, and willing to commit 10 hours of their time each month for the duration of a case (12 - 18 months). Volunteers must attend 30 hours of training in order to be sworn in by the court to serve as a CASA.

We have a CASA office in Elbert County, where we also have advocates for children.
