ADVOCATES FOR CHILDREN (CASA)

Jayme Harper 303-328-2357 (o)   303-378-5537 (c)    Email CASA to volunteer

Volunteers are needed to become CASAs (Court Appointed Special Advocates).

CASA volunteers are community members who ease the overburdened child welfare system by volunteering to advocate for individual children affected by abuse and neglect. CASAs get to know these children and speak up for them in court, providing timely, pertinent information to insure that the child's best interests are served.

CASAs must be 21 years of age or older, and willing to commit 10 hours of their time each month for the duration of a case (12 - 18 months). Volunteers must attend 30 hours of training in order to be sworn in by the court to serve as a CASA.

Volunteers are very important people at the Dumb Friends League. As a private, non-profit animal shelter, we rely on the assistance of caring and hard-working volunteers in all our programs. The League receives nearly 27,000 lost, unwanted and abused pets, and helps tens of thousands of people and animals throughout the Denver metro area, and in Castle Rock. We provide shelter, food, veterinary care, love and attention for these animals.

We have volunteer opportunities for individuals 16 years and older, and for people that are willing to make a six-month commitment of approximately three hours per week.

There are many volunteer opportunities available; here are just a few:

Kennel Technician Assistant * work directly with the animals providing care and exercise

Adoption Information Specialist * greet visitors and answer questions about our adoption program

Receiving Assistant * assist staff with relinquished pets

Homes with Hearts Foster Parent * provide TLC in your home to special-needs animals

To volunteer, please provide us with a completed volunteer application. You may request one by calling 303-751-5772, Ext. 1933

or print out your own copy by going to our web site location at
