Volunteers are essential in our rapidly expanding organization and contribute greatly to our success.

Assistance is currently needed in: community outreach, fundraising, events, administrative support,
shelter and legal advocacy and speaker's bureau.

All volunteers are required to read the WCFOC Handbook and attend one quarterly orientation.
Varying levels of training are required for each area.

DOUGLAS/ELBERT TASK FORCE

Douglas/Elbert Task Force

416 Jerry Street, Castle Rock    303-688-1114

We need more volunteers NOW than we have since our beginnings in 1984!

The Task Force assisted a little more than 2,000 people in 1997.  In 2005, we assisted over 11,000 DOUGLAS COUNTY people in need,
a 550 percent increase in less than 10 years.   Volunteering is YOUR opportunity to make a difference.  Task Force could not operate without volunteers.
Many more are needed to keep up with the ever-increasing need to assist our community.

WE promise YOU a challenging and rewarding experience.

Call us at 303-688-1114 or email Kathy for more information and a volunteer application.

COURT APPOINTED SPECIAL ADVOCATES

CASA

Kami Welch 303-328-2357 (o)   303-378-5537 (c)    Email CASA to volunteer

Volunteers are needed to become CASAs (Court Appointed Special Advocates).

CASA volunteers are community members who ease the overburdened child welfare system by volunteering to advocate for individual children affected by abuse and neglect. CASAs get to know these children and speak up for them in court, providing timely, pertinent information to insure that the child's best interests are served.

CASAs must be 21 years of age or older, and willing to commit 10 hours of their time each month for the duration of a case (12 - 18 months). Volunteers must attend 30 hours of training in order to be sworn in by the court to serve as a CASA.

We also have a CASA office in Elbert County, and have advocates for children there.

Volunteers are very important people at the Dumb Friends League. As a private, non-profit animal shelter, we rely on the assistance of
caring and hard-working volunteers in all our programs. The League receives nearly 27,000 lost, unwanted and abused pets, and
helps tens of thousands of people and animals throughout the Denver metro area, and in Castle Rock.
We provide shelter, food, veterinary care, love and attention for these animals.

We have volunteer opportunities for individuals 16 years and older, and for people that are willing to make a
six-month commitment of approximately three hours per week.

There are many volunteer opportunities available; here are just a few:

Kennel Technician Assistant - work directly with the animals providing care and exercise
Adoption Information Specialist - greet visitors and answer questions about our adoption program
Receiving Assistant - assist staff with relinquished pets
Homes with Hearts Foster Parent - provide TLC in your home to special-needs animals

To volunteer, please provide us with a completed volunteer application. You may request one by calling 303-751-5772, Ext. 1933 or print out your own copy by going to our web site location at  Buddy Center Volunteer Info.
